Professor Majesté Ihou Watéba protests against the anarchic opening of new sectors in private universities in Togo. The Minister of Higher Education and Research urges promoters to regularize these sectors by July 19. According to him, this situation calls into question the reliability of the training offered by these establishments.
The finding is alarming: certain establishments have launched new courses without having completed the necessary accreditation formalities. In response, Minister Majesté Ihou Wateba took a firm position.
“This situation, which is detrimental to learners, raises the question of the reliability of the training offered by these private establishments. Any request for regularization of sectors must be accompanied by payment of the corresponding fees to the Public Treasury,” Professor Watéba specified in a press release.
In his message, the minister reminds those in charge of establishments of the obligation to request prior authorization from his ministry before any opening of a sector.
“Any violator of this rule will be refused any regularization in the future,” he warned.
Last year, Togo undertook a process of harmonization of university training offers. This process, which concerns the License courses of private higher education establishments, aims to formalize all of the curricula offered.
