A group of secessionists believed to be members of the Western Togoland seeking for independence from the Republic of Ghana have allegedly attacked State Transport Corporation (STC), beat up drivers and completely burnt a bus in the Volta Regional capital, Ho.
A group of secessionists suspected to be masterminded of the Western Togoland who are advocating for independence from the Republic of Ghana to form Trans-Volta Togoland have ones again strike in Volta Region in their quest for independence by burning one STC bus among eleven buses in the yard.
The attack on the State Transport Corporation according to report took place on Monday, 28th September, 2020 midnight in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital.
According to reports available, the attackers thus, the secessionists of the Western Togoland, before their operations allegedly fired warning gunshots.
Information available suggest that, there is a heavy security presence at the scene in the Ho, after the incident that took place last night.

BACKGROUND
On Friday, 25th September, 2020, some members of the Western Togoland Restoration Front (WTRF), a political wing of the Western Togoland Independence Struggle today mounted road blocks in some parts of the Volta Region to further push their agenda for the independence of the Trans Volta Togoland.
The group numbering about fifty (50), blocked the main Accra-Aflao highway mainly with logs and also burnt lorry tyres at the Bakpa Tademe junction near Sogakope in the South Tongu District for more than three (3) hours.
The action resulted in some exchange of physical and spiritual warfare leading to the injury of some members of the group and some police officers including the Tongu Divisional Police Commander, Chief Supt. Dennis Fiakpui.
The latest protest by the WTRF, one of the several groups pushing the agenda for the independence of the Western Togoland from Ghana, was said to have started around 3.30am simultaneously at Bakpa Tademe junction in South Tongu, Juapong and Aveyime-Battor in the North Tongu district as well as Abutia in the Ho West district amongst others.
The action by the group brought vehicular traffic to a halt at the Sogakope barrier or checkpoint for more than three (3) hours.
Some of the frustrating passengers and driver’s who spoke to our newsteam said they arrived at the Sogakope barrier between 4 and 6am only to be prevented from continuing their journey.
At the Bakpa Tademe spot itself where one of the hottest actions took place, our cameras captured the remains of the scenes including some talismans and other chanting materials used for the operation. Lorry tyres were burnt here and blood spots could be seen at intermittent locations within the jurisdiction.
It took a combined effort of the police and trainees at the Agorta Naval Base not only to disperse the group whose members chanted war songs but also arrest some of the perpetrators of the action.
Some of the injured members of the group are receiving treatment at separate health facilities across the region including the Sogakope district hospital while other injured members of the WTRF also escaped through the bush to seek for their own medical attention.
District Chief Executive (DCE) for the South Tongu area, Hon. Emmanuel Louis Agama told our newsteam that he was surprised about the latest development, adding that the security agencies were working around the clock to bring the situation under control.

According to him, the well-co-ordinated nature of the protest was of great concern for him and others, wondering how the security agencies could not pick any intelligence on the issue before its occurrence.
Meanwhile, a statement issued today by the Information and Communications Directorate of the WTRF, said the roadblocks embarked upon by it’s members was to assert what it described as its sovereignty on its territory in furtherance of the declaration of the independence of its statehood on 1st September, 2020.
Latest unconfirmed reports say about twenty (20) members of the group have been arrested by the security services while thirteen (13) had different forms of injuries sustained from the gun-shots and spiritual warfare. There were also two (2) fatalities yet to be confirmed.
